The Right Kind of House
Author(s):
Anne Coulter Martens
There is apparently no reason for the ridiculous price Mrs. Grimes is asking for her house. So when a buyer finally appears, her niece and the real estate agent politely urge her to be more realistic. The quiet tone and peaceful small town atmosphere contained in the opening scene are suddenly and terrifyingly altered as the audience discovers not only why Mrs. Grimes is asking such a high price but also what she does once she finds a buyer. The intensity of the sudden and mounting suspense and the chilling climax make this an ideal play for contests. The play may be given by one woman and four men, by an all-woman cast, or by a combination of the two. One int. set.
